For ever-increasing numbers of people from the region, the state, the country and abroad, the New York State Historical Association preserves the past and educates for the present and future through a diverse and inclusive program of cultural history exhibitions, public and school programs, publications and resources. Admissions revenues, program fees and earned income from gift shops, food services and facility rentals cover only 20% of NYSHA’s $4.3million dollar operating budget. Another 45% of operating costs is covered by an annual fixed percentage payout from the endowment. Competitive grants and sponsorships cover 25% of costs, leaving the remainder, nearly $500,000 to be covered by the generous support of individual donors and members.
