Flags, Uniforms, and Insignia: New York State Material Culture of the Civil War

Ted Shuart, Interpretive specialist and Master Printer at the Farmers’ Museum, discusses flags, uniforms and insignia of New York troops during the Civil War.  Learn about New York State’s wartime history while looking at examples of “things,” and understand what they tell us about one of the most tumultuous times in American history.

Food For Thought programs are a lunch and lecture series which offer visitors a more in-depth understanding of our exhibits and programs. All programs begin at 12:30 on Wednesdays and include lunch. $20 members/$25 non members. Register for 3 or more Food for Thought programs at once and receive a discounted price of $18 members/$23 non-members per program.   Food For Thought Cancellation Policy: Registrants who cancel before noon on the Friday before the program will receive a full refund.  Registrants who cancel after noon on the Friday before the program will not receive a refund unless the participant’s spot can be filled. If the Fenimore Art Museum cancels a program because of weather, insufficient registration, or any other reason, registrants will receive a full refund.
