Food for Thought: Pints and Paintings
Join us for an investigative journey into the Bull’s Head Tavern Sign paintings by both Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, with Ann Cannon, Curator of American Art at Fenimore Art Museum, and Casey Monroe, Independent Scholar and former Senior Research Cataloguer of the Frederic Edwin Church collection at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Together, they will discuss how the two artists were identified as the painters of the sign, if it was ever actually a sign, its uniqueness in showcasing the artistic relationship between Cole and Church, and how it relates to their legacy in this, the 200th anniversary of Frederic Church’s birth. A private buffet lunch provided by Brimstone Bakery will precede the special tour, with vegetarian options available.
Cost: $28.00 (Members) | $33.00 (Non-Members)
