With Shannon Delany’s instruction, students will learn the basic techniques of both scherenschnitte (scissor-cutting) and messenschnitte (knife-cutting) and create a symmetrical woven paper design incorporating either Celtic design elements or hearts. Participants will go home with a matted and framed piece of art. This workshop is suitable for any adult or teen with good hand-eye coordination, patience, and scissor-handling competence. All materials included in the cost of the workshop.
Shannon Delany has been working in scherenschnitte and other papercutting styles since the second grade. Her work has been featured by the Guild of American Papercutters, and she has traveled to Germany to learn more about the roots of the art. With her background in education, she loves teaching others how to be creative.
