Basics in Relief Printmaking for Adults with artist Matthias Kern
Discover the world of Linocut/Woodcut.
This two-day class is for students with little or no experience.
This class provides an introduction to relief Linocut and Woodcut printing. We will talk about the history of those techniques as well as materials involved. The students will be learning techniques of sketching, carving, sharpening tools, and hand printing their design, so everybody can go home with a piece of art created and printed from their Lino block. Materials and cutting tools included in cost of workshop.
About the Artist
Based in New York, Matthias Kern was born in Celle, a small German city south of Hamburg. From a very early age he was exposed to various forms of art and attended all the art classes that were available in his hometown. Over the years, Matthias experimented with various artistic expressions including watercolor, acrylic and pastel, as well as printmaking. He enjoys working in the older printmaking techniques as well as more modern techniques of intaglio, encompassing dry point, aquatint, mezzotint, line etching, silk screen, monotype and woodcut.
His vision is to achieve with his art feelings that we all have experienced, and to allow his audience to personalize those emotions to mean something specific for them. Matthias Kern invites you to Be transported back to that world where our imaginations ran free.
