Booking

All of the above programs require booking in advance. A group discount can only be guaranteed if prior reservations are made. To schedule a trip, please contact the education department at schoolprograms@fenimoreart.org or (607) 547-1461. You can also start the booking process online with our School Programs Request Form.

Customize Your Trip!
We want every school and student to have the best experience possible at our Museums. Call toll-free at 888-547-1450 ext. 461 or email schoolprograms@fenimoreart.org to speak with our School Programs staff about which program best suits your students and curriculum needs.

Chaperones
We encourage one chaperone for every 10 children and extend complimentary admission to teachers and additional adults at this 1:10 ratio. There is no charge for 1-on-1 aides that are assigned to a specific student. Additional adults accompanying your student group will be charged an adult group rate, which is $9.00 for tours and workshops and $14.50 for Spring Field Days (which include admission to The Farmers’ Museum). This adult admission must be included with student admission as one lump payment. Bus drivers receive complimentary admissions as a professional courtesy.

Lunch Space
We do have an indoor lunch space at The Farmers’ Museum which is available for use by school groups visiting the Fenimore Art Museum. Lunches and bags may be stored here while your group is visiting the Museum. This space needs to be reserved, so please make sure to indicate whether you need it while making your booking. Please also note that if you are only visiting the Fenimore, you will need to walk across the street to get to this lunch space. Make sure to plan extra time accordingly.

Arrival
Small groups visiting only the Fenimore Art Museum may be dropped off at the front entrance. Larger groups, groups needing a lunch space, and groups visiting both Museums should be dropped off in the front of the Main Barn at The Farmers’ Museum. Buses must park in the Yellow Trolley lot down the road, therefore anything that would be needed during your visit should be taken off of the bus. There are restrooms available in the Fenimore Art Museum and at the entrance to The Farmers’ Museum.

Accessibility
While the Fenimore Art Museum is fully accessible with elevators, assistance is needed to get into our Folk Art Gallery. Our Mohawk Bark House is not wheelchair accessible. For the best experience, leaders of groups with special needs should plan their visit with museum staff by calling 607-547-1461.

Cancellation Policy
We reserve rooms and schedule staff for each school group. Therefore, any cancellations for non-emergency situations must be made 48 hours prior, or you will be billed for the cost of the program. Except in cases of severe storms or flooding, we will run programs in the rain and rain is considered a non-emergency situation. We are not able to schedule rain dates in advance. Please make sure that your students dress appropriately for the weather on the day of their visit, including rain or snow gear if necessary.

If either the Fenimore Art Museum, or your school, is unexpectedly closed, you will not be billed and we will do our best to reschedule your trip.
