Floating Palaces of the Hudson
FLOATING PALACES OF THE HUDSON
June 29 – September 15, 2019
The 1926 Broadway musical Showboat, based on the novel by Edna Ferber of the same name, followed the lives of the performers and workers on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River boat. In compliment to Glimmerglass Festival’s 2019 production of Showboat, Fenimore Art Museum presents an exhibit of artwork, objects, and photographs, drawn from the Hudson River Maritime Museum and our own collection, that celebrates the Hudson River version of riparian entertainment.
Sponsored in part by The Tianaderrah Foundation, and Lady Juliet Tadgell and Dr. Christopher Tadgell.
