Fenimore Art Museum Launches New Look in Time for the 2017 Season Opening

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York proudly introduces a new logo and branding initiative—the first such endeavor in more than 15 years.  The launch occurs just one month ahead of the museum’s 2017 season opening on April 1.

The new logo and branding, designed by Paperkite Creative of Cooperstown, is a total departure from the museum’s previous look and carries forward with a simple yet bold design focusing on the name “Fenimore” in a vibrant red.

“The name Fenimore is unique among art museums, and it’s how the museum is commonly identified. For that reason, we felt that it should be prominently reflected in the logo and branding,” said Todd Kenyon, director of marketing and communications.  “The new logo also places an emphasis on the word ‘more’ within the name, which is exactly what our visitors find when they arrive at the museum—more than they expected—more art, more culture, and more discovery.”

The new logo will be accompanied by a refreshed brand campaign and a newly designed, easier-to-navigate website, expected to launch in the spring.

“Coming off a record-breaking season, the new logo and branding signify the current strength and direction of the Fenimore,” said Fenimore Art Museum president and CEO, Dr. Paul S. D’Ambrosio. “Each year, we receive national attention for our uniquely conceived exhibitions, and the bold visual of the new branding is a suitable match.”

Fenimore’s 2017 season begins April 1 and is filled with a mix of exciting exhibitions featuring world-renowned artists. See works by Maurice Sendak, creator of the famous book Where the Wild Things Are, with 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons, Maurice Sendak: The Memorial Exhibition. Discover a never-before-seen collection of skating art and memorabilia from the private collection of Olympic champion Dick Button in The Art of Figure Skating through the Ages: The Dick Button Collection. Get an intimate look at the life of artist Andrew Wyeth through the eyes of his granddaughter Victoria Wyeth, guest curator of the exhibition Andrew Wyeth at 100: A Family Remembrance. A total of eleven exhibitions will be presented this year.
