Otsego Lake Is the Focus of CGP Community Stories

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — October 10, 2014 — Hear experiences and memories of Otsego Lake from oral histories of local residents during Food for Thought on October 22 at the Fenimore Art Museum. Join William Walker, Associate Professor of History at SUNY Oneonta, as he plays excerpts and leads a discussion on the importance of the lake, how it has changed us, and how we have changed it.

Collected by students in the Cooperstown Graduate Program (SUNY Oneonta), CGP Community Stories presents the diverse stories of the residents of central New York State. In the 1960s, students in the Cooperstown Graduate Program began collecting oral histories, which now include over 1,800 recordings. The Food for Thought presentation pairs an important discussion with a generous, delicious luncheon.

Food for Thought — CGP Community Stories: Otsego Lake will be held Wednesday, October 22, from 12:30–2:30 pm at the Fenimore Art Museum. Lunch and lecture fee: $22 for NYSHA members, $25 non-members. Pre-registration is required. Please call (607) 547-1461. The Fenimore Art Museum is located at 5798 State Highway 80, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
